About The Event
All are welcome to join us for Indy's largest weekly chess night at the Latvian Community Center!
First time attending is free (so don't register, just come), but otherwise it's $10/person ($5 for members of Indy Chess). UPDATE: THIS WEEK ONLY IT IS FREE FOR MEMBERS (regular price for non-members).
There will be a kids' game review workshop from 6:30-7:00, followed by kids casual play from 7:00-8:00pm.
Kids can earn medals, and eventually cash in medals for trophies.
Kids will play a mixture of long games, blitz, and bughouse, or whatever their heart desires!
Adult casual play (13+ years old) will also be available 6:30-9:30pm, so come make some friends and meet new opponents.
Adults can pair themselves, or can ask the adult section host for pairings with other people.
Sets and clocks are provided, and any time control is allowed as you desire.
Often the rated players will join the adult casual section between their rounds in the next room.
For the serious players, there will be a 3ss, 25+5 USCF-rated tournament (typically two or three sections determined by rating) in a separate room from about 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Arrive by 6:15pm if you want to be paired in round one (if you are a regular and you pre-register online, just text Mike if you can't arrive by 6:15pm so we know to pair you and start the clock). Games affect both USCF regular and quick ratings. Must be a member of USCF to play rated chess (new.uschess.org/join-us-chess). Make sure to provide your USCF ID# to info@indychess.org prior to the event, or arrive by 6:15pm to be paired in round one.
As the Tuesday events grows, we plan to offer light concessions for sale, and eventually Indy Chess merchandise.
The rooms are wheelchair accessible.
If you are playing in the rated tournament, you should bring your own equipment per USCF rules just in case we don't have enough (we probably will plenty, so if a first-timer don't worry). For the casual players and kids, we should have enough sets and clocks, though you're welcome to bring your own. Notation sheets provided in each area, but bring a writing utensil.
Questions? Email Mike at info@indychess.org. Hope to see you there!
