three League Options

@The Latvian Community Center:

​

• Seniors (50+, other 21+ adults considered if needed at TD discretion):

  • Mondays from 10a to 12:30p

  • Begins September 30 and ends November 18

  • Format: 7-week round robin among 8-player section w/ one 60 d10 game/week; 3+2 rated blitz open tournament the 8th (final) week for all sections

  • One USCF-rated sections of limit 8 players each (USCF membership required)

  • Tournament director: Mike Chapuran

• Adults (18+, other 13+ youth considered if rated >1600 at TD discretion):

  • Wednesdays from 7p to 9:30p

  • Begins October 2 and ends November 20

  • Format: 7-week round robin among 8-player section w/ one 60 d10 game/week; 3+2 rated blitz open tournament the 8th (final) week for all sections

  • Two USCF-rated sections of limit 8 players each (USCF membership required); Limit 16 players total

  • Players grouped by 10.1.24 published USCF regular rating, cutoff depends on registrations

  • Tournament director: Xavier Colter

• Kids (6-17):

  • Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30p (approx.)​

  • Begins October 2 and ends November 20

  • Format: 7-week double round robin among 8-player section w/ two 25 d5 games/week; 3+2 rated blitz open tournament the 8th (final) week for all sections

    • Will play your week's opponent each Wednesday, once as White and then as Black​

  • Two USCF-rated sections of limit 8 players each (USCF membership required); Limit 16 players total

  • Players grouped by 10.1.24 published USCF regular rating, cutoff depends on registrations

  • Tournament director: Xavier Colter

EXTRA details for all leagues:

• Live 30-minute lesson/discussion each week before matches by FIDE Master Lester VanMeter (six-time Indiana state champion!)

• Venue: Latvian Community Center (1008 W 64th Street, Indy, 46260)

• Entry fee: $140 members/$160 non-members before 9.16 ($175 after)

• 1st place for each section: Branded Indy Chess fleece (or substitute merch) and trophy; 2nd-3rd place receive medals

• Printed packet of best league games annotated by FM Lester VanMeter at end of season for all players

• All equipment provided; notation required in each league

• Top boards may be livestreamed on DGT board

• Absence policy: Opponents and pairing schedule will be known at beginning of league kickoff. Individual matches can be rescheduled at the mutual agreement of the players for any date prior to November 14 (including at Tuesday Weeklies), using provided league roster and on-call TD.  If unable to reschedule, game is forfeited (does not affect rating) by player with conflict.
