About The Event
Time to learn your checkmating patterns! Kids in 2nd-8th grade who know how the chess pieces move and want to begin to unveil the beauty of the game at the next level are welcome to sign up!
Coach Mike Chapuran (a USCF-certified chess coach and tournament director, and founder of Indy Chess) will provide a limit of 20 students all of the following:
Presentation of 36 of the most seen checkmating patterns in chess (e.g., Back Rank Mate, Anastassia's mate, Smothered mate, Arabian mate, Morphy's mate, and more!);
Worksheets to practice the checkmates;
Flashcards for each student to do peer review (and take home!);
Recreation breaks in the gym or playground with Scatterball, Gaga, and more;
