About The Event
Numerous female grandmasters, including GM Susan Polgar, have stated how more opportunities for just girls need to exist to encourage their development in the game of chess. With that spirit, we announce the Inaugural 2025 Girls City Chess Championship in Indianapolis! ALL girls K-12 and under 18 years old are eligible to play, regardless of residence, and are eligible for trophies. Only residents of the State of Indiana are eligible for the scholarship prizes.
Sections:
CHAMPIONSHIP/OPEN SECTION – Open to any girl that wants to compete for the top prizes!
U800 RESERVE SECTION – Open to any girls with a USCF rating below 800 or unrated.
U500 PRIMARY SECTION – Open to any girls with a USCF rating below 500 or unrated.

The entry fee is $0 to make the event accessible and encourage participation, but if able we encourage you to consider a free will offering of any amount (Example: comparable tournaments cost about $20/player) to the mission of Indy Chess.
