Afternoon Lecture + Simul with Grandmaster Sam Khanin

Grandmaster Semen "Sam" Khanin is visiting our chess club at the Latvian Community Center!  At 2:00pm on Saturday, June 28, he will present a chess lesson to up to 20 players. Immediately following, he will play all attendees at the same time, one move at a time, giving everyone present a chance to play a grandmaster in a simultaneous exhibition ("simul")!

Khanin grew up in Russia and began playing chess at the age of 5, winning multiple Russian Youth Championships. He attended Texas Tech University and competed on their chess team. He won the 2025 Chicago Open and was a joint winner of the World Open (Philadelphia) in 2022. His current USCF rating is 2693. Indy Chess is very grateful for his willingness to provide his expertise and demonstration of skill for our club!
